Monthly Wrap-ups

Monthly Wrap-Up March 2021

Welcome to another monthly wrap-up! I am shocked at how much I read in March, somehow I managed to get through 15 books! And some of these books were big. I read so many 5 star books this month, I don’t know how I’m going to pick a favourite!

My books of the month were An Ember in the Ashes, Chain of Iron and House of Salt and Sorrows.

The Once and Future Queen Books 2 and 3:

I loved the first book, but it did not come anywhere close to these two! I really felt like the world building and the characters were explored so much more in the last two books. I can imagine some people will struggle with the first book, but all I can say is read the second one and see if it changes your mind. I adore Gideon, who we are introduced to in the second book, and I think so many interesting characters appear once Cassandra, Devyn and Marcus have left Londinum.

The Stolen Kingdom:

This book blew me away. I was so excited to read it and did not disappoint! It was the second book I read in March but I haven’t posted my review yet cause I am in a blog tour for it later in April! But my review will be out soon and it is a positive one.

I loved the story, the magic system and the characters!!

The Lightning Thesaurus:

I was so disappointed by this book, I really struggled to get through it. If it wasn’t an ARC, I would have DNF’ed it. I thought the writing was poor and there were way too many big words used that genuinely didn’t make any sense!

The Crowns of Croswald:

This book was magical and I do have a review copy of the sequel that I will be reading soon! It was such a good coming-of-age story about Ivy and it reminded me a bit of Harry Potter, with its own unique twist.

Dyrwolf:

I hadn’t read anything about werewolves for a long time until I read this book. I loved the characters and the romance between two opposing sides. The tension was great and I recommend this for fantasy lovers!

Seasons of the Storm:

This has been on my TBR for so long and it was worth the wait. I I loved Jack and Fleur and they were definitely star-crossed lovers! I had no idea there was a sequel, and I do think you could get away with reading this as a standalone, but nevertheless, I am excited for it!

Mercurial:

I read so many positive reviews of this book and I had to grab a copy of NetGalley. I was not disappointed and loved the magic system. This is a book that I will definitely reread at some point!

Read my review here for more fangirling over these characters!

Bridge to Terabithia:

I adored the film when I was younger, and have always wanted to read the book. It got chosen as my book club book this month so I got to experience the emotional pain in book form!

Check out my review here.

House of Salt and Sorrows:

Wow This book blew me away. It wasn’t quite what I expected but it was insanely good. I am posting my review tomorrow so you can check out my full thoughts. But this was a really well written, dark fairy tale retelling of the twelve dancing princes. I wasn’t expecting it to be as sad as it was!

The Last Hours Books 1 and 2:

I love these characters so much. Cordelia and James are endgame in my heart and I am now impatiently waiting for Chain of Thorns! I think these might be my favourite Shadowhunter books, purely because of the depth to the characters!

All I will say is I was extremely frustrated with the ending of Chain of Iron!

Like A Boss:

After the ending of Chain of Iron, I felt like I needed a rom-com to cheer me up! And this was so good! It was light hearted and I was sucked into the story from the get-go. I really loved the importance of family that was portrayed in this novel, as Quin is a single dad, and Nell has lots of supportive siblings.

I definitely recommend this book if you want a fun, romantic read!

An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night:

I wish I’d read these sooner. I love the characters, Especially Elias and Laia, I ship them so hard haha! Hopefully, I will have finished the series soon cause I am dying to see what happens!

I never thought I’d be doing a wrap up for 15 books! Now my dissertation deadline is approaching, I doubt I’ll be able to read as much in April, but then again I said that at the beginning of March so who knows!

What have you been reading in March? Have you read any of the books I have?

Georgia x

  1. And I thought I read a lot this month, haha. So many books! And it sounds like you had a rather positive experience with them too! I really need to read The Crowns of Croswald and The Stolen Kingdom. Mercurial also sounds like it might be good. And all your talk about Bridge to Terabithia lately has made me want to find my copy and reread it!

  3. Wow, you had such a great month! Great wrap up too. Ugh, I’ve heard so many people talk about the ending for Chain of Iron (not what it is but that it’s not good)! I am now finding myself not reaching for it. haha. I hope that April is just as good to you! ❤

  4. Brilliant wrap up! I really liked The Stolen Kingdom as well. It’s rare that I find a standalone fantasy that can hold its own so it was a breath of fresh air for sure 🙂
