One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming…

Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.

Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating bestsellers. And he’s Nora’s work nemesis.

Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she’s the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That’s why Nora’s sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month’s holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It’s a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into…Charlie.

She’s no heroine. He’s no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?

My Review:

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I just had to request this one and was so happy when I got approved! This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022 and it did not disappoint!

‘When I want something, Nora. I don’t give up easily.’

I adore books written in the publishing world. Nora is a literary agent at the top of the game and has built a steadfast reputation for herself. Charlie is a top-notch editor, who creates bestsellers. After a botched meeting between these two a few years prior to the main storyline of the book, Nora declares Charlie as her nemesis. Nora’s past relationships always ended when her boyfriend went out of town to a small village and had a small town romance. She views herself as the evil city ex-girlfriend, who only exists as a plot point for someone else’s story.

And by you’ve seen me, you mean you’ve watched me.’
‘Of course I fucking do. I can’t stop. I’m always aware of where you are, even if I don’t look, but it’s impossible not to.’

Her sister, Libby, convinces Nora to take a month’s trip to stay in Sunshine Falls, a small town which was the setting of her previous successful book. One of the things I loved about this book was how much the sibling relationship played into it. Nora and Libby have been a bit distant recently and Libby is keeping something from her. Everything Nora does is for Libby, and this book is definitely for the older sisters! I really enjoyed their dynamic.

‘You do have me, Nora. I never stood a chance.’

I adore the small town trope, but I loved how this one turned it on its head, making the two big city characters fall for each other whilst in a small town. When Nora gets to Sunshine Falls, her heavily pregnant sister has made a list for Nora to complete, one of which is to go on two dates with locals. The issue is Nora can’t help but bump into Charlie over and over again. I loved Nora and Charlie’s relationship so much and their chemistry was insane. Charlie is the perfect male love interest and he says the right thing all the time. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop over the course of the novel and writing this makes me desperate to read it again!

‘If I had to pick one person to be in my corner, it’d be you. Every time. You take care of shit.’

I 100% recommend this one! Emily Henry has well and truly established herself as an automatic buy author for me!

Georgia x

  1. Fun review! I can’t help sniggering that Libby is a character in the book. That is also the app name of a popular library e-book reading program. Books about books about books!
