WWW Wednesday: 3rd February 2021

Hi everyone! It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This meme is hosted by Taking On a World of Worlds. This is the first Wednesday of February and I’m hoping for a good reading month as January was exceptionally kind to me!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1)

Synopsis

Fall in love, break the curse.

Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year, Prince Rhen, the heir of Emberfall, thought he could be saved easily if a girl fell for him. But that was before he turned into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. Before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, Harper learned to be tough enough to survive. When she tries to save a stranger on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s pulled into a magical world.

Break the curse, save the kingdom.

Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. A prince? A curse? A monster? As she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

I started my reread of this on Monday and I’m very excited to read the conclusion! In the hopes that it’ll be better than the second one!

Recently Finished:

I Survived: I had a loving husband. Then he tried to kill me. A true story.

Synopsis

A chilling, eye-opening story of marriage and attempted murder, revealing the truth about a case that made headlines around the world.

On Easter Sunday 2015, experienced skydiver Victoria Cilliers undertook a parachute jump, a gift from her husband, British army sergeant Emile Cilliers. Her parachutes failed to open and she plummeted 4,000 feet to the ground, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Miraculously, she survived. Then the police arrived at her door. Someone had tampered with her parachute and they suspected Emile.

In I Survived Victoria describes how she fell for Emile, and how the charming man she thought she knew gradually revealed a darker side, chipping away at her self-worth until she found it impossible to sift truth from lies. Can she really believe that her husband – the father of their two young children – tried to kill her? As more shocking revelations come to light, and she has to face his trial and relentless media scrutiny, she struggles to come to terms with the past. Even a guilty verdict does not free her because Emile is not ready to let her go . . .

Powerful and honest, I Survived is the story of a woman who was put through hell and yet found the strength to forge a new life for herself and her children.

This was such a heart breaking read and my first non-fiction book of 2021! I don’t normally read this genre so I’m quite proud of myself (and my book club) for making me read this!

A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers, #2)

Synopsis

Find the heir, win the crown.

The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still. Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall. Although Rhen has Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers.

Win the crown, save the kingdom.

Rumored to be the heir, Grey has been on the run since he destroyed Lilith. He has no desire to challenge Rhen–until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force. Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?

The heart-pounding, compulsively readable saga continues as loyalties are tested and new love blooms in a kingdom on the brink of war.

In the sequel to New York Times bestselling A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Brigid Kemmerer returns to the world of Emberfall in a lush fantasy where friends become foes and love blooms in the darkest of places.

A reread of the Cursebreakers trilogy isn’t complete without the second book! I’m hoping to get through these fairly quickly cause I want to read the last book!!

How has your reading week been? Have you read any of these? I’ve started back at uni this week so my reading rate may drop off now!

  1. Ooh I hope you’re enjoying your reread of the Cursebreakers books!! I’m almost done with Vow at this point and I am enjoying myself immensely. It’s not without its flaws but I’m in love with all the character development 😍 Great post Georgia! ❤️

  2. I want to finish the Cursebreakers series so badly! I absolutely loved the first one, but our library hasn’t gotten the other two in. Though to be fair, some of the talk about the second one has made me a little skeptical to continue the series.

    1. I love rereading books and hoping to do a Throne of Glass reread at some point this year too but I know I will take up all my time with that so I’m waiting for when I’m not too busy! I definitely recommend rereads though they’re the best and you notice new things each time you read!

  3. Ah the Cursebreakers series! It’s one of my favorites, though I think I am in the minority when I say that I actually liked the second book lol. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about the third book! I haven’t gotten my copy yet, though I’ve already heard some promising things about it, so I am excited to conclude the series!
