My Review:

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy to beta-read in exchange for an honest review.

The Tides of Reckoning follows on from The Outlands. This book ramped up the intrigue and the action, and I loved it!

Jett has been exiled to The Outlands alone, and he has to navigate himself around an area he’s never been to before, and only heard horror stories about. Jett and his friends were exiled at different times, he feels incredibly guilty so decides he will find and unite them. He journeys to find his friends through these wastelands, and discovers new settlements, and maybe new friends. The world of Dios is so much more complex an interesting compared to book one. We discover more about who, and what, lives these.

I loved how Jett put his friends before himself in this novel. A lot of what he does in this book is for his friends, and you can really admire his personality. There is a lot of character development over the course of Jett’s storyline. He seems to believe in himself and his ability to lead more.

I loved the new characters. I thought Kali was an incredibly strong female character. Rowan is a great addition too, and I enjoyed finding out more about him. Jett’s relationship with these characters grew slowly but strongly. It was such a joy to read and follow their relationships, particularly Kali and Jett’s! Friendships from the previous book were in this and developed muchstronger.

Comparing this to the original version of the first book, it is so different! I enjoyed the first book, but really loved this one. The characters felt more real and it was easier to have an emotional connection with them. The storyline itself was intriguing and I couldn’t put it down. There were some unanswered questions that I think will be answered in the next instalment, and I can’t wait to read it and find out what happens to these characters!
